Marigold Café

photographs by Mariko Reed

We opened the doors to Marigold Café in November 2022. The space is designed to reflect the subtle nuances you may find in one of our floral arrangements. The space is warm, airy, and filled with soft curves, subtly feminine sensibility, and layers that thoughtfully pique your senses. Nestled behind our flower shop in a neighborhood we’ve called home for the past four years, the café serves Portland-based Heart roasters that caters to the most discerning coffee palette.

Designing this new addition to the flower shop has allowed us to discover a deeper exploration of our design interests while bringing together two favorite rituals–coffee and flowers–celebrating the comfort and joy they bring us every day.

Drawing inspiration from old-world architecture we wanted you to feel transported to somewhere else like Mexico City or Paris. The soft lighting welcomes you in on those early mornings, with lighting fixtures by In Common With, pendants by &Tradition, complimenting the vintage Paris street light hanging overhead. The layered textures of the sustainably sourced big-leaf maple burl wood and delicate hues of the lime washed walls are contrasted with the chrome-dipped custom hardware you may not notice at first glance.

Like our floral arrangements, there are hidden elements throughout the café that keep you wondering. Custom chrome-dipped stackable stools compliment the hardware; the color is designed to catch the warmth of the sun when sitting in the sidewalk garden. The custom wood and metal elements and seating are designed by Julian Paul with millwork fabrication by AC Woodworks.

Open daily from 8am-3pm
